Atlas / Companies / Juniper

Juniper

researchedfull dossier

The European weight-management brand of Australian group Eucalyptus, acquired by Hims & Hers in 2026, which makes Hims the dominant single owner across UK and continental European DTC weight loss.

Juniper Technologies UK Ltd (13901454) and Fill Function UK Limited (13739688), both under EUC Health UK Holdings Limited (15014196); Juniper Europe B.V., KvK 88526267 (Amsterdam) for Germany. Ultimate parent Hims & Hers Health, Inc. since 1 June 2026.

Model

Correction. This atlas previously recorded Juniper as brand-first with partner pharmacies. That is wrong for the UK weight-loss business: Fill Function UK Limited holds GPhC pharmacy registration 9011842 in Birmingham and CQC provider registration 1-22947623675, and it is a wholly owned sibling of the brand entity. The UK is fully vertically integrated, with prescribing done by Pharmacist Independent Prescribers rather than doctors.

The partner-pharmacy description is correct for two narrower things: the UK hair-loss line, dispensed by The London Specialist Pharmacy Ltd, and Germany, where there is no German entity, no German pharmacy and no German-registered prescriber. German orders are contracted by a Dutch B.V. and dispensed by Thuisapotheek in Alkmaar.

Ownership

Sister brands include Pilot (men's health), Software (derm), Compound and Kin (fertility). All Eucalyptus brands share one customer data platform, visible in certificate transparency. ZAVA, Juniper's most direct German competitor, is also owned by Hims & Hers, so one parent now runs two German GLP-1 businesses on incompatible legal models.

Pricing

UK: £199 (2.5mg) to £339 (15mg) on a six-month commitment with first-month intro pricing. Germany: €199 first month, €299 thereafter.

Funding

Parent Eucalyptus raised at least $148m: A$8m Series A (2020), $30m Series B (2021), $60m Series C (2022), A$50m (April 2023) at a $520m valuation, from Woolworths, Mary Meeker and Blackbird Ventures.

Scale

Group-wide: more than 775,000 customers and ARR north of US$450m as at February 2026, though that ARR is annualised January gross fulfilled billings, not revenue. UK Trustpilot is now 13,447 reviews at 4.5, up from roughly 490 when this page was first written. No Juniper-only revenue or patient count is disclosed anywhere; Hims & Hers reports a single Rest of World line.

Regulatory history

Five upheld ASA rulings against Juniper Technologies UK Ltd: February 2023, July 2025, and three on a single day, 8 April 2026. The April set moved beyond the prescription-only medicine rule into social responsibility, harmful gender stereotyping and covert marketing, one of them brought by competitor CheqUp Health Ltd. Separately, the TGA has had a live investigation open since September 2023 into Eucalyptus subsidiaries over online advertising of prescription medicines in Australia, disclosed in the Hims & Hers 10-Q and expressly indemnified in the acquisition documents.

In 2026

Hims & Hers agreed to acquire Eucalyptus on 19 February 2026 for up to $1.15bn (Australian press reported a $1.6bn headline figure, the discrepancy is likely upfront versus earnout, and should be checked against the primary filing). The acquisition completed 2 June 2026.

Markets

United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Japan, Canada, Spain (staged, not launched).

Covered in this atlas: Germany, United Kingdom.

What this dossier changes

Juniper is described everywhere, including in earlier versions of this atlas, as brand-first with partner pharmacies. For the UK weight-loss business that is wrong. Juniper owns its dispensing pharmacy outright. Germany is the opposite: no German entity, no German pharmacy, no German-registered prescriber, and the whole operation resting on one line in a Dutch register.

Licences

Who actually holds the pharmacy registration, the clinical registration and the prescribers. This is the block that most often contradicts a company's own description of itself.

GPhC (pharmacy register)Fill Function UK Limited, trading as “Eucalyptus”9011842Registered. No notices, no conditions, no enforcement history.

Units 17 to 18, Union Way, Aston, Birmingham B6 7FH. Superintendent Pharmacist Oliver Williams, GPhC 2219620. This is the finding that reverses the “brand-first” reading: Juniper UK owns the pharmacy.

CQC (provider)Fill Function UK Limited, also known as Eucalyptus1-22947623675Registered. “We have not inspected this service yet.”

Regulated activity: treatment of disease, disorder or injury. Location “Remote clinical advice”. Registered Managers Dr Alice Pan and Dr Simon Doyle described on Juniper’s own page as awaiting CQC approval.

Searches for eucalyptus, juniper and myjuniper all returned nothing. Post-Brexit the EU common logo requirement applies in Northern Ireland, so absence is not necessarily non-compliance in Great Britain.

Prescribers, UKPharmacist Independent PrescribersNot doctors, in the core flow.

Both GPhC inspection reports state prescriptions are issued by PIPs working remotely. The 2024 report adds that a video call was an option “but this was rarely done in practice”. No UK-facing Juniper prescriber could be confirmed as GMC-registered.

This single register line is the legal keystone of the entire German operation.

The German AGB says prescribers are registered “bei der zuständigen Ärztekammer ihres Mitgliedstaats”, with the competent chamber of their own member state. It does not say Germany.

Money

Eucalyptus raised roughly 148m dollars over six years, and Hims & Hers was already an investor

Pre-seed and seed from Blackbird in 2019. Series A May 2020, 8m dollars, led by W23, the Woolworths venture arm. Series B July 2021, A$30m, led by NewView Capital, with 23andMe, Blackbird, W23, AirTree and, notably, Hims & Hers itself. Series C announced 27 January 2022, A$60m or US$43m, led by BOND, which is Mary Meeker’s firm. A further $50m in April 2023 from existing investors at a $520m valuation.

So the eventual acquirer had been on the cap table for five years before it bought the company. Several of these figures are reported by Australian outlets without a currency marker; treat the 8m, 50m and 520m numbers as unresolved between AUD and USD.

The acquisition: 1.15bn headline, 968.5m in the accounts

Announced 19 February 2026 by Securities Sale Deed. Completed 1 June 2026, announced 2 June. Governed by New South Wales law.

The 8-K headline is aggregate consideration of up to US$1.15bn: roughly $240m upfront, $710m deferred across six instalments to the eighteen-month anniversary, and up to $200m of earnout on FY2026 to FY2028 revenue and adjusted EBITDA targets.

The Australian press figure of A$1.6bn is the same number in a different currency, not a discrepancy. What is genuinely different is the accounting: the Q2 2026 10-Q puts the GAAP purchase price at US$968.5m, being $225.0m cash, $683.9m deferred and $59.6m of contingent consideration at fair value against a maximum earn-out of $96.6m. The gap to the $200m headline earnout is service-linked and therefore post-combination compensation expense, up to $131.3m still to be recognised, not purchase price.

Goodwill is $790.3m, or 81.6% of the purchase price. The deferred payments flipped Hims & Hers into a working capital deficit of $98.6m at 30 June 2026, from a $363.2m surplus six months earlier.

Scale: 775,000 customers and an ARR figure that is really a billings run-rate

From the acquisition press release: more than 775,000 customers group-wide as at February 2026, nearly two million consultations facilitated, and ARR north of US$450m. That last number is explicitly non-GAAP and is calculated by annualising January 2026 gross fulfilled billings, so it is a billings run-rate, not revenue. Triple-digit year-on-year ARR growth in every quarter of calendar 2025, unaudited.

The 10-Q is more restrained. Eucalyptus was roughly 5% of consolidated revenue for the one month of ownership in Q2 2026, and roughly 15% pro forma as if owned from January 2025, against roughly 10% for the equivalent 2025 periods. Working back from Hims’ $753.2m quarter, that implies about $450m annualised, which cross-checks the disclosed ARR.

Hims declined to present historical or pro forma earnings for Eucalyptus at all, calling them “not meaningful or relevant”, and stated that earnings attributable to Eucalyptus after acquisition “were not considered material”. No Juniper-only revenue, patient count or subscriber number is disclosed anywhere. Hims reports a single Rest of World line.

The same framing as the UK, in German.

German disease framing
Adipositas ist eine von der WHO anerkannte Krankheit. Bis zu 80 % des Körpergewichts sind genetisch bedingt.

Obesity is a disease recognised by the WHO. Up to 80% of body weight is genetically determined.

The genetics claim does the heavy lifting: it relocates blame away from the patient, which is the standard counter to German cultural resistance to medicalised weight loss.

German comparison table, against pharmacies
Apotheken: Medikament häufig nicht vorrätig, unregelmäßige Betreuung, kein Gesundheitscoaching, keine Überwachung, Besuch vor Ort nötig, keine Lieferung

Pharmacies: medicine frequently out of stock, irregular care, no health coaching, no monitoring, in-person visit required, no delivery

APOTHEKE ADHOC ran this as a headline in September 2024, calling the claims “hinkende und falsche Vergleiche”, limping and false comparisons. Two years on it is still live.

German tax page, unique to that market
Nutze erhebliche Steuervorteile, indem du die Behandlungskosten bei Juniper als außergewöhnliche Belastung in deiner Einkommensteuererklärung angibst und dir so bis zu 40% der Kosten zurückholst.

Take advantage of significant tax benefits by declaring your Juniper treatment costs as an extraordinary burden in your income tax return, recovering up to 40% of the cost.

The sharpest piece of localisation on the whole property. GLP-1s are excluded from German statutory reimbursement as Lifestyle-Arzneimittel, so rather than fight the objection Juniper converts it into a tax refund. Worked example on the page: 2,719.40 euros recovered on 3,916 euros of spend. No competitor has an equivalent page.

What the UK homepage conspicuously does not say
No price, anywhere. No side effect. No contraindication. No BMI threshold. Not the word “subscription”. Not the early cancellation fee. Not that you pay before a clinician approves you. No reference list for six numeric efficacy claims. No mention that Mounjaro is being rolled out on the NHS. No mention of Hims & Hers.

The corporate line stops at “A digital health clinic by Eucalyptus”.

06

Naming and gating

Prescription-only medicines cannot be advertised to the public anywhere in Europe. So how does this competitor refer to the drug, and what stands between a visitor and the brand name?

The UK has no gate at all

Prescription-only medicines are named in the top navigation of the public homepage, above the fold, to an unauthenticated visitor, each paired with a numeric efficacy claim:

> Wegovy Pill Lose 16.6% body weight > Mounjaro Lose 20.9% body weight > Wegovy Lose 20.7% body weight > Orlistat Lose 8% body weight

It goes further. Fully public, indexed, ungated pages name POMs throughout: /mounjaro-hub, /wegovy-hub, /best-weight-loss-injection (a comparison table of Wegovy, Mounjaro, Saxenda and Ozempic with manufacturers and average weight loss), and roughly 130 indexed articles including /articles/mounjaro-buy-online-uk, /articles/buy-ozempic-uk and /articles/where-can-i-buy-semaglutide-uk.

The euphemisms (“weight loss treatment”, “breakthrough treatments”, “GLP-1”) are used in the hero and in ad-adjacent copy. The brand names sit one click away and saturate the SEO estate. Set against five upheld ASA rulings under CAP rule 12.12, this is the most exposed surface on the property.

Germany withholds the name until after payment, and cites the statute as the reason

Across /de, /de/abnehmspritze, /de/gewichtsverlust, /de/programm and /de/community, the words Wegovy, Mounjaro, Ozempic, Semaglutid and Tirzepatid do not appear at all. What appears instead is the category noun “Abnehmspritze”, then “das Medikament”, “Original-Medikament”, “GLP-1-Medikation”, and a mechanism description that names no substance.

And they say why, in terms, twice:

> “Aufgrund des Heilmittelwerbegesetzes dürfen verschreibungspflichtige Medikamente nicht vor einer ärztlichen Bewertung genannt oder beworben werden.”

> “Aufgrund der Bestimmungen des Heilmittelwerbegesetzes ist es uns erst nach einer Überprüfung deiner Eignung durch unser medizinisches Team erlaubt, den Namen des Medikaments oder des Wirkstoffs zu nennen.”

The name is disclosed after the questionnaire and after payment. That is the single most important structural fact about the German funnel: money changes hands before a prescriber has looked at the case and before the patient knows what molecule they are buying.

Turning the constraint into the mechanic is deliberate and it does two things at once. The statutory citation supplies a respectable reason for withholding the product identity, which reads as legitimacy rather than evasion. And a prospect who does not know the molecule cannot price-shop against a German pharmacy.

The two markets are legally incompatible, and so is the sibling brand

Juniper’s stated legal justification for its central German conversion mechanic is not shared by its competitors. ZAVA and DoktorABC name Wegovy, Mounjaro, Ozempic and Saxenda openly on their German consumer pages. Either they take a more permissive view of the information-versus-advertising line, or Juniper’s reading of the HWG is more conservative than the market’s. Either way it weakens the defence and reframes it as a marketing choice.

The awkward part: ZAVA is also owned by Hims & Hers. One parent now runs two German GLP-1 businesses on incompatible legal models, at very different prices, with opposite policies on naming the drug. Rationalising that is an obvious near-term move and a live strategic question for anyone modelling this market.

07

Funnel

Every screen from landing to checkout. Three gates are marked: where price is first revealed, where payment is taken, and where the clinical assessment sits. The order of those three is the commercial model.

  1. Landing

Your pathway to lasting weight loss. CTA: Check your eligibility

No price shown. Every CTA resolves to app.myjuniper.co.uk/start/signup with a quizCode parameter. The variants _8 and _20 are live A/B splits; discountCode=SNOWMAN is hardcoded in nine homepage links, in August.

  2. 1. Name

“Let’s start with your name”. Sub: “By entering your details, you agree to our Terms & Conditions and acknowledge our Privacy Notice.”

    captures: First name, last name

T&C acceptance is bound to entering a name. There is no checkbox.

  3. 2. Email

“And your email?” Sub: “This is where we’ll send information from your practitioner and pharmacy.” Checkbox, unticked by default: “No thanks, I’d rather not receive these”.

    captures: Email, marketing consent

Email is captured before a single medical, weight, BMI or safety question. The framing is clinical while the consent mechanic underneath is a soft opt-in with an unticked opt-out, so the default state is consent granted.

  4. 3. Eligibility quiz

“Answer a few questions about your lifestyle, medical history and anything you want to share with our prescribing team”

    captures: Medical history

Content not verified. Walking further requires planting a fabricated patient record and sending mail to an invented address. Published criteria: BMI 27 or higher, with a weight-related comorbidity required between 27 and 30. Pregnancy excluded. No public disordered-eating exclusion, no BEAT signposting, no safeguarding language anywhere on the public site.

  5. 4. Paymentpayment gate

“After you have submitted your quiz, you will be asked to pay to reserve the spot in the programme.”

And the flat statement from /juniper-hub: “Before you can speak with a Juniper prescriber, you must first complete the quiz, and pay for the first month of the programme to reserve your spot.” Price is first revealed here, at checkout, and nowhere in the shopfront.

  6. 5. Clinical reviewclinical gate

Prescriber assesses. Full refund within 1 to 2 business days if ineligible.

The clinical gate sits after the payment gate. This is the whole commercial model in one ordering decision.

  7. 6. Identity and photoidentity gate

Photo or NHS App weight verification, ID verification, GP address collection

    captures: ID, photos, GP address

Config keys collectGPAddressPage, verifyIdentity, postcoderAddressLookupEnabled. “Prescriber follow up photo requests seemed excessive” is a recurring one-star review title.

  8. 7. Dispatch

Welcome Kit includes medication and booklets. Estimated delivery 2 to 6 days.

Pricing

The pricing model, corrected: a constant markup, not a flat price

DoseJuniper UK priceUK list less 30%Juniper margin
2.5 mg£199£93.10£105.90
15 mg£339£231.00£108.00

This is the most useful two rows in the dossier. Juniper’s UK margin is effectively identical at the bottom and the top of the dose ladder, which means the price ladder tracks the cost ladder almost exactly. Juniper does not absorb titration, it passes it through at a constant euro or pound amount per patient-month. We previously modelled Juniper Germany as a flat 299 EUR subscription and concluded it lost money at maintenance dose. That was wrong, and these two rows are why.

Germany, what the words actually say

SurfaceVerbatimWhat it means

Homepage todayab 249 → 172 € / Monat. Alles inklusive, Medikament, Rezept, Versand, medizinische Betreuung, Community"ab" is German for "from". Also a floor price, and a different A/B variant
Clinical pageJede:r Patient:in bekommt einen individuellen Dosierungsplan, den wir regelmäßig anpassenThe dose is individualised, so the price cannot be one number

Juniper never publishes a dose-by-dose table the way Zava does, and it cannot, because naming doses means effectively naming the product and Juniper has committed to the Heilmittelwerbegesetz abstention. The pricing opacity is a direct consequence of the naming strategy, and it is commercially convenient: the entry price looks competitive against Zava while the ladder is revealed only after the eligibility gate.

The implied German ladder at a constant 145 EUR markup, against Zava all-in

DoseDrug at manufacturer priceJuniper impliedZava all-in
2.5 mg154,00 €299,00 €240,79 €
5 mg210,00 €355,00 €311,59 €
7.5 and 10 mg294,00 €439,00 €417,79 €
12.5 and 15 mg378,01 €523,01 €524,00 €

Derived, not observed: the German dose prices sit behind the eligibility quiz and we have not submitted one. The ladder is inferred from Juniper’s own UK constant-markup behaviour applied to the German manufacturer price. The sanity check is the top row: Juniper’s implied maintenance price lands within one euro of Zava’s. Juniper is materially more expensive than Zava at entry and level with it at maintenance, which is what a premium bundled programme should look like.

What dose-banding does to the economics, at 200 subscribers in Germany

Modelled as flat 299 €Modelled as dose-banded
Average price per patient-month299 €399 €

Gross profit3.831 € (6%)23.423 € (29%)
Gross profit per patient19 €117 €
Net per yearminus 35.634 €plus 199.472 €

A swing of roughly 235,000 EUR on the same 200 patients. Assumptions: 90 per cent monthly retention giving a ten-month average life, a steady-state dose mix in which 38.7 per cent of all patient-months sit at maintenance dose, a 250 EUR replacement acquisition cost against the 20 patients a month you must replace to stand still, and drug bought at the German manufacturer price through a Dutch pharmacy. Retention and acquisition cost are doing most of the work and neither is verified for a new operator.

UK monthly price by titration step

Dose 5£329 (12.5mg)£229 (2.4mg)
Dose 6£339 (15mg)n/a

The ladder is the mechanism. A Mounjaro patient who titrates to the top dose pays 70% more than at entry. The shopfront advertises only the entry point; the escalation is disclosed nowhere in the conversion path. It appears in a blog post, /articles/how-much-does-juniper-cost, not on a pricing page, because there is no pricing page. The shipped app config also carries a £249 high-dose Wegovy tier that contradicts the £229 published on the blog.

/de/g/shopping/... lp005-c199 euros299 euros

The page claiming to be Germany’s cheapest offer at 179 euros runs simultaneously with a homepage showing 172 euros. That is an internally contradictory superlative. Twelve-month cost is roughly 3,461 euros, against roughly 1,680 to 2,160 euros for buying the drug on a private prescription at a German pharmacy, so Juniper carries a 60 to 100% premium that the coaching, community and supply-guarantee propositions exist to justify.

Hair Plan cancellationOnce dispatched, “you are not permitted to cancel… regardless of the reason… including side effects or adverse reactions to medication”. And: “You agree to opt-out of any cooling off rights to the extent permitted by law.”
UK self-service cancellationSwitched off. The production config reads selfServiceCancelEnabled:!1. Cancellation is routed through a Typeform. Set against the homepage promise “Cancel anytime”, this is the sharpest contradiction on the site.
German cancellationBy email only. No cancellation button, which sits squarely against the §312k BGB Kündigungsbutton obligation. And the AGB contains no Widerrufsbelehrung at all, in a document that expressly submits to German law.

Surface

Domains from certificate transparency, not guesswork. Staged markets and internal tooling show up here first.

Domains: five live markets, one staged, Germany as a path

myjuniper.co.uk, myjuniper.com.au, myjuniper.ca, myjuniper.jp all serve. Germany runs as a path on the .com, not a ccTLD, which is unusual and probably tells you how much German-specific investment there has been. myjuniper.de is not held.

myjuniper.es 302s into Cloudflare Access. Spain is built and sitting behind zero-trust, with a complete brand block already in the shipped app config, and is absent from the public country switcher. That is the clearest forward signal in the whole estate.

Subdomains: the internal tooling is enumerable

Certificate transparency returns 69 distinct names for myjuniper.co.uk. Live and probed: app. (React SPA, service juniper-uk-ui-production), api. (Express gateway on Google), `admin.` returning a page titled “Eucalyptus Admins”, tracking. (a white-labelled parcel platform, the only non-Google non-Cloudflare stack in the estate), gtm-uk. (server-side GTM on Cloud Run).

In CT but not publicly serving: prescribers. and prescribers2. (the clinician console), quiz-admin. (a quiz authoring back office), insights., sms., go., test-lp., plus dev mirrors of nearly everything.

The most commercially interesting finding: the certificates are shared across the whole Eucalyptus portfolio. The same certs cover api.cdp. and evs.cdp. for myjuniper.co.uk, myjuniper.com, myjuniper.jp, ca.myjuniper.com, de.myjuniper.com, kinfertility.com.au, pilot.com.au, skin.software and uk.compound.co. Every Eucalyptus brand runs on one shared customer data platform.

robots.txt blocks no AI crawler at all

The full file allows everything and disallows only hygiene paths: discount-code URL variants, an internal search template and Klaviyo click parameters. No GPTBot, no CCBot, no ClaudeBot, no Google-Extended, no PerplexityBot. For a regulated healthcare brand that is either deliberate AI-search positioning or an oversight, and either way it is unusual.

The SEO estate is 87% editorial and openly targets purchase intent

665 indexed URLs, of which 578 are blog articles. Top slug tokens: loss 146, mounjaro 64, wegovy 54, fat 41, protein 31, ozempic 15, semaglutide 12.

Commercial-intent slugs they are clearly buying with content include mounjaro-buy-online-uk, buy-ozempic-uk, where-can-i-buy-semaglutide-uk, wegovy-where-to-buy and juniper-vs-nhs.

Four dedicated competitor pages exist: /juniper-vs-numan, /juniper-vs-voy, /juniper-vs-second-nature, /juniper-vs-hsp, running feature tables with a “Published studies on weight loss outcomes: 10 vs 0” row. Two blog categories, hair and longevity, telegraph product lines before they launch.

Notably absent from the sitemap: no /pricing page, no /reviews page despite “Reviews” in the nav, and no /faq.

Stack: Webflow shopfront, React product, and visible tag debt

The marketing site is Webflow behind Cloudflare, with custom JS served from a Google Cloud Storage bucket. Segment is the CDP, with the production write key exposed in plain page source. Consent is Segment Consent Manager, not OneTrust or Cookiebot. Both LaunchDarkly and VWO are loaded, and both Swiper 11 and Swiper 12, and GSAP from two hosts.

A live LaunchDarkly experiment key xp_juniper_gb_homepage fires exposure events into Segment with full UTM context.

The product app is a React SPA on a GraphQL backend at api.external.eu.eucalyptus.vc. Amplitude is the most-referenced vendor in the bundle by a wide margin, with Segment, Datadog RUM, Bugsnag, Sentry, Iterable, Klaviyo, LaunchDarkly, Stripe and Firebase all present. No dedicated session-recording tool, Datadog RUM appears to fill that role. No affiliate platform: referral is built in-house.

The homepage ships unedited template comments from the build team, including // 🔁 Change to your brand and // 🔁 Change to your region (GB, FR, etc). The copyright still reads 2022.

Reputation

Read the one-star reviews properly. They describe the operational model from the outside.

Trustpilot 4.5 on 13,447 reviews, and the distribution is the story

Read directly on 24 August 2026: TrustScore 4.5, 13,447 total reviews, 7,588 of them in the last twelve months, so the score is current rather than legacy.

Star distribution: 5-star 79%, 4-star 9%, 3-star 3%, 2-star 2%, 1-star 7%. That is a bimodal, J-shaped curve with a hollow middle, 88% at four to five and 9% at one to two. It is the signature of a service that either works well or fails badly, not one with a broad quality spread. At this volume, 7% is roughly 940 one-star reviews.

Trustpilot’s own top-mention tags are all operational: Service, Response time, Customer service, Application, Delivery service. None are clinical or outcome-related.

Juniper is beaten on both score and volume by Voy, at 4.7 on 25k, which is the competitor it targets with a dedicated comparison page.

Germany is a separate profile at roughly 1,665 reviews, up from a reported 761 in March 2026. If both figures hold, German review volume roughly doubled in five months, which is a useful independent read on German growth.

The one-star themes describe the operating model from outside

The subscription trap dominates. Verbatim, 15 May 2026, titled “Avoid, dodgy subscription arrangement”: “Signed up for monthly jabs, deferred my second month as they made me so sick. No email from Juniper letting me know that my next lot of injections were about to be delivered, only found out when the delivery company let me know. Tried to cancel, too late, so got charged £150 for jabs that I threw away.”

That is selfServiceCancelEnabled:!1 and the £50-plus-clawback clause surfacing as customer harm, against a homepage that says “Cancel anytime”.

A front-end bug interrupting medication supply. The longest one-star review describes a re-consultation questionnaire that would not record answers, daily reminder emails with broken links, seven ignored complaints and three missed doses. Juniper’s reply confirms the constraint: the quiz “must be completed directly through your account on our website… it is not something that can be completed via email or phone.” A single product decision creates a clinical-continuity risk with no manual fallback.

The AI companion experienced as a deflection layer. “juniper use AI bots ?! Took forever fir it to be escalated to a human, even then they email via a no reply email.”

Also recurring: price versus market (“Almost double the price than other retailers”), intrusive photo requests, and one title reading “Had to report them to Trading Standard due to harassment”.

The apps have 1,500 ratings against a claimed 250,000 members

iOS “Juniper – Women’s Weight Loss” at 4.6 on 1.1k ratings, published by Euc Services Pty Ltd, the Australian entity, not the UK one. Android 4.6 on 393 reviews, 100k+ downloads, last updated two months behind iOS.

Roughly 1,500 public ratings against a claimed 250,000 to 260,000 members is an extremely low ratio, and the config suggests why: in-app review prompts appear to be routed to Trustpilot instead.

The UK gets a reduced app experience: weightDashboardEnabled:!1, showWeightLossGraph:!1 and showZendeskSupportCard:!1 are all disabled for juniper-uk while enabled elsewhere.

The social proof numbers do not agree with each other

Seven different figures for the same metric, live on the same day:

| Page | Claim | |---|---| | Homepage | “Trusted by 250k women” | | /start/welcome | “Trusted by 150,000 members” | | /discount-code | “Over 150,000 happy members worldwide” | | /articles/how-much-does-juniper-cost | “trusted by 260,000 members” | | /e/wl-sp-nnn | “over 200,000 patients globally” | | /juniper-vs-numan | “30,000 women around the world” | | /juniper-vs-voy | “30,000 members” and, lower on the same page, “150,000 members” |

The German site has the same problem: the homepage claims “60.000+ Patient:innen in Deutschland” while /de/about claims “40,000+” patients worldwide.

Separately, six numeric efficacy claims on the UK homepage carry superscripts ¹ and ² with no legend anywhere on the page. The only substantiation is a self-run survey of 215 patients from February 2023, buried in a collapsed FAQ.

Captured live from the public site. Each carries its URL and the date it was taken.

The sentence that settles the pricing question. "Jede:r Patient:in bekommt einen individuellen Dosierungsplan, den wir regelmäßig anpassen", every patient gets an individual dosing plan that we adjust regularly, from Dr Matt Vickers, Ärztliche Leitung. An individualised dose cannot sit behind a single flat price, which is why the German pages say Standarddosierung and ab rather than publishing a table. Note also Dr R Allan named as Verschreibender Arzt, Juniper DE, where we previously recorded no named German prescriber.

A22-1160655. YouTube pre-roll testimonial describing “a doctor who prescribed me a treatment that acts as an appetite suppressant”. Held to indirectly promote a POM even though the drug was not named. CAP rule 12.12.

2023-03-20GPhCStandards not all met

Inspection of pharmacy 9011842. Three of five principles failed. The inspector found the pharmacy “has not fully considered and managed all the risks involved in supplying higher-risk medicine by solely relying on an on-line questionnaire model”, that the website allowed a consultation to start from an individual POM page, and that it could not show it obtained enough accurate information. Main product at the time was Ozempic prescribed off-label for weight loss, with no visual check for anyone self-reporting BMI 30 or above.

2023-09TGA (Australia)Open investigation

Compulsory notices issued to Eucalyptus subsidiaries between September 2023 and August 2025, requiring production of documents in connection with alleged non-compliance in 2023 and 2024 with Australian laws on online advertising of prescription medicines. Disclosed in the Hims & Hers Q2 2026 10-Q, which states the company “is unable to reasonably predict the outcome”. Hims is indemnified by certain warrantors under the acquisition documents. A two-year live investigation, carried through the deal and expressly ring-fenced.

2024-01-29GPhCStandards met

Re-inspection. All five principles met. Supply had moved from Ozempic to Wegovy, and photographic or NHS App weight verification had become routine. GP-sharing consent remained non-mandatory with roughly 40% of patients consenting. Video calls remained available but “rarely done in practice”.

A24-1264770. Paid Google search ad, “GLP-1 Weekly Weight Loss Injection”, £135, with an unbranded injection-pen image. Identified by the ASA’s AI-driven Active Ad Monitoring system. MHRA advice was sought and supported the ASA. Held that “GLP-1”, “Weight Loss Injection”, the pen image and the discounted price each independently promoted a POM.

A25-1314325. Posts in Facebook weight-loss support groups from accounts posing as customers (“First-time Juniper customer here”) sharing a referral code. The complainant was CheqUp Health Ltd, a direct competitor. The ASA established the posters were marketing professionals, not based in the UK, not users of the service, contracted by Juniper and paid hourly. Breaches of rules 2.1 and 2.3 on recognition of marketing communications, plus 12.12.

A25-1319597. Paid Facebook ad with influencer The Ryan Family: “I probably needed a hug, but I decided to start a medicated weightloss journey with Juniper instead.” Held to exploit new mothers’ body-image insecurities and constitute a harmful gender stereotype, breaching rules 1.3 and 4.9.

Strategically this is the important one. Juniper argued its post-click filtering page was a homepage under MHRA Blue Guide chapter 7. The ASA rejected that, holding that a page asking only whether the user was new to weight-loss medication is a filter, not a landing page. That closes off the Blue Guide “casual browser” defence for paid social funnels across the category.

A25-1321384. Two Black Friday Instagram promotions running eleven days: “Run, don’t walk. Save £179 over 6 months”, “Limited-Time Offer: Injections From Just £85”. Held to promote POMs and to apply irresponsible time-limited pressure, breaching 12.12 and 1.3.

The ASA-sanctioned interstitial is still deployed, four and a half months after the ruling. Verified by walking it on the date of this dossier: /e/wl-sp-nnn runs a three-question micro-quiz with no clinical function, delivers the verdict “Good news! Juniper might be right for you” regardless of the answers, then presents exactly the fork the ASA ruled on: “I’m new to weight loss medication” and “I’m using weight loss medication”. The same pages carry named celebrity endorsers with stone-based weight losses that never appear on the organic site.

2025-03-03Landgericht München IInjunction granted, defendant unidentified

4 HK O 15458/24. A German Apothekerkammer obtained a preliminary injunction against a Netherlands-based online pharmacy advertising weight-loss injections to German consumers via an online questionnaire reviewed by a non-German physician with no in-person contact. Held to breach §10 and §9 HWG plus §3a UWG, the court finding that remote questionnaire treatment of obesity does not meet recognised medical standards.

The defendant is not named in any available source. Whether it was Juniper, Thuisapotheek or an unrelated Dutch operator is unresolved. But the described model is Juniper Germany’s model, and the plaintiff class is exactly the class that would target it.

Read-across

What a new entrant should copy, and what it should avoid.

Copy this

  • Own the pharmacy where the law allows it. Juniper UK holds GPhC 9011842 through Fill Function UK Limited, and that is why the UK unit economics work. Everyone describing them as brand-first has the model backwards.
  • Put shame reduction first, not efficacy. Both markets open with “this is medical, not a motivation problem” before any product claim. It is the highest-converting frame in the category and it is free.
  • Localise the objection, not the copy. The German tax-deduction page exists because German statutory insurance will not pay. That is a genuinely original piece of localisation and no competitor has an equivalent.
  • Build the SEO estate before you need it. 578 articles, and two categories (hair, longevity) seeded ahead of the products they will support.
  • Separate the brand entity from the licensed entity from day one. Every ASA ruling names Juniper Technologies UK Ltd. None of them touches the pharmacy registration.

Avoid this

  • Naming POMs in your public navigation. Five upheld ASA rulings, and the brand names are still in the top nav with efficacy percentages attached. That is not a defensible position, it is an unremediated one.
  • Payment before the clinical gate. It is the single most attackable thing in the model, it powers most of the one-star reviews, and in Germany it means taking money before the patient knows what molecule they are buying.
  • Saying “Cancel anytime” while shipping selfServiceCancelEnabled:!1. The contradiction is discoverable in a production JS bundle and it is already generating Trading Standards complaints.
  • Efficacy claims with orphaned superscripts. Six numeric claims, two superscript markers, no legend anywhere on the page, and a self-run survey of 215 people from 2023 as the only substantiation.
  • Seven different figures for the same social-proof metric, two of them on the same page. Pick a number.
  • Renting your fulfilment layer in your second-largest market. Thuisapotheek is an independent Pluripharm-group pharmacy with its own consumer business. Any competitor can sign the same agreement.

Open on this company

  • What does the eligibility quiz actually ask about disordered eating? There is no public exclusion statement, no BEAT signposting and no safeguarding language anywhere on the UK site, and the ABC News case from February 2026 turned on exactly that disclosure being present in the questionnaire and not acted on.
  • Who was the defendant in Landgericht München I 4 HK O 15458/24? The model described is Juniper Germany’s model.
  • Does any UK-facing Juniper prescriber hold GMC registration, or is the entire UK weight-loss book written by Pharmacist Independent Prescribers?
  • When does Spain launch? myjuniper.es is built, configured and sitting behind Cloudflare Access.
  • What happens to ZAVA? One parent, two German GLP-1 businesses, incompatible legal models on naming the drug.
  • Is the German supply Ozempic or Mounjaro? Trade press and patient reports say Ozempic capped at 1.0mg, which would be off-label; one comparison site says primarily Mounjaro. Unresolved without completing a paid checkout.
  • What is the CQC registration date for Fill Function UK Limited? Not exposed publicly and the CQC API was unavailable.
